What We Do

Synovus is dedicated to protecting your privacy and ensuring that only you have access to your accounts. Numerous safeguards are in place to protect your sensitive personal information when you bank with us.

Information Security
Synovus and your bank have made significant investments in the security of your information. We use a wide variety of security protection and monitoring methods to protect the confidentiality of your information. Firewalls, anti-virus software, application security, monitoring for intrusions and other fraudulent activity are just some of the measures in place to protect you and your information.

Internet Browser Security
When you access your account and perform transactions online, we use 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. All sensitive information traveling across the Internet is encrypted with a special key created by our computer network and your browser. With this key, your data is only available to you, but meaningless to everyone else. You know SSL encryption is at work by the presence of the lock or key symbol in your browser’s status bar.

Product Security
Synovus banks offer two online banking products for consumers and commercial clients: Business Internet Banking and Synovus Online Banking. Both solutions protect your account beyond your username and password through a process called “strong authentication.” The term authentication refers to the process a Web site uses to recognize a user as he or she logs in. Authentication ensures that the individual is who he or she claims to be. Strong authentication builds on the traditional username and password requirement by using additional forms of authentication to verify your identity.

Business Internet Banking: Business Internet Banking customers perform sophisticated activities online, such as ACH and wire transfers. Because these transactions typically involve higher dollar amounts and increased risk of fraud, Business Internet Banking users may require the use of a security token. The security token is provided by your Synovus bank, and you must have the token on hand to be able to complete the login steps.

Synovus Online Banking: As a Synovus Online Banking customer, you must create a username and password upon registering with the system. In addition, you may be asked a series of security questions for additional security. From time to time, you will be asked these security questions upon logging in to provide added assurance you are who you say you are. Anyone attempting to log in several times with the incorrect username and password will automatically lock your account until you contact us to have it unlocked.
